OOC: The info post!
So after two years of begging for a D'Argo, I finally had to go ahead and app him myself. See what you people made me do? Tsk. You're going to make me talk to myself, you know.
the basics on d'argo: the story, appearance, personality and tongue
Ka D'Argo is a Luxan warrior on Farscape. He was a soldier who was falsely convicted of murdering his Sebacean wife in a fit of hyper-rage. His last act as a free, erm, man, was to send away his son Jothee where he'd be safe. D'Argo was then imprisoned aboard Moya for eight cycles, chained up by metal rings inserted into his collarbones. Owww. He, Zhaan and Rygel finally escaped aboard Moya, accidentally taking John Crichton and Aeryn Sun (you may have heard of them) with them in the process. The new crew goes into the Uncharted Territories to escape the Peacekeepers and attempt to find their homes.
D'Argo is arguably going to be the most alien alien in Fandom. Seriously, he couldn't pass for human if he tried. He's at least 6'6", looks like... well, his icons, has facial tattoos, has at least two hearts, can breathe in space for a limited amount of time... He does have translator microbes, so he will understand you regardless of what language you're speaking. And okay so I have to talk about the tongue? In addition to his normal tongue, which may be the weirdest sentence fragment I have ever typed, he's got a second, six-foot-long tongue that he shoots out at people. The tip is equipped with adaptive venom that will knock a person out. It's not enough to do any serious harm, if he ever feels the need to use it I will contact you first, and keep in mind that if you get hit with it, you're supposed to get knocked out. That's the whole point. Plus, then you can say you got tongued by a Luxan.
He will be getting a qualta blade. He doesn't have it at the moment. When he does, it's a very large, heavy sword carried in a sheath on his back that can transform into a qualta rifle and shoot things up. He is a warrior, but where Aeryn's bigger on hand to hand combat, D'Argo has brute force and the big heavy sword-rifle thing, so he doesn't really need to hit you. Should he decide to, though, you're in for an ouchie.
Personality-wise, D'Argo's not the friendliest, but he's a good guy once you get to know him. He can come off as gruff and brusque, but he's calmed down a lot. I think he's learned by now that even annoying people (hi Jool) have their good points and can be useful, which should make him easier to interact with. He's a really good friend to those he likes and respects, and he tends to take getting hurt really really really badly.
He's also a bit of a party animal and is prone to the occasional bender. He's the worst dancer in the universe, with the exception of Elaine from Seinfeld. (I am actually linking this vid entirely for the dancing, and also you get to see the tongue in action, and also, earworm.) He's also, somehow, a bit of a ladies' man. He's clearly not concerned with species, so 3 Minute Dating? He'll be there. Pretty girl at the bar? He'll hit on her. Getting smacked for it? Can't be the first time it's happened. It should be really hard to miss the narrative hints from him on this sort of thing, so feel free to cut him off at any time. Or smack him.
Note on his point in canon, because this is kind of important: D'Argo's post-Peacekeeper Wars. He is not the same D'Argo from Aeryn's universe that Jamie's hanging with. This version will know Stark, John, Aeryn and Braca. I'm very very cautious about revealing info about characters' futures they shouldn't know, so if there's anything you do/don't want yours to find out, ping or E-mail me for a heads up.
more on that point in canon- MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 AND PKW
I'll start off with the easy season four stuff first. Okay, so D'Argo has been on Earth before he shows up in Fandom. It was a very controlled, governmental sort of deal, but still, he's going to be a little familiar with some stuff.
And so yes, D'Argo is post-PKW. I know there's some debate between some of the fans over what happened to D'Argo, but for the purpose of this particular character, I'm going under the assumption that he did in fact die. *weeps* He's going to have no idea how he ended up in Fandom and will be trying to get home (hm, that's familiar) which won't be as easy as he thinks. (And I think I'm solidifying Anthony Simcoe popping up in the webisodes now because I think David Kemper likes to Joss me personally. If that happens, D'Argo'll just be an AU.)
And tah dah! *goes to bring him IG now*
